Our Philosophy

More Than Care – It’s Connection

  • Garland Lodge was founded on a simple yet powerful belief: everyone deserves a life filled with dignity, choice, purpose, and belonging.
  • We are more than support providers. We are dedicated professionals who listen, advocate, and walk alongside the people we support. Our role is to empower individuals to build meaningful lives within their homes and communities.
  • The people we support are never passive recipients of care. They are active partners in shaping their support plans, setting personal goals, and making everyday decisions. Together, we create personalised plans that reflect individual strengths, aspirations, and preferences.
  • Our Vision
  • To deliver high-quality, person-centred supported living that promotes independence, inclusion, and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
  • Our Mission
  • To work in partnership with individuals with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs supporting them to develop skills, build confidence, and live fulfilling lives with choice and control.

Our Core Values

At Garland Lodge, our values guide every decision, every interaction, and every support plan we create.

We develop personalised, comprehensive support plans in partnership with each individual, reflecting their strengths, aspirations, and specific needs. Our team is trained in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), trauma-informed practice, and risk management to ensure safe, compassionate, and structured support  including for individuals with complex behavioural needs, forensic backgrounds, or substance misuse histories.

Respect without condition

We treat every person with dignity, compassion, and fairness valuing their voice, identity, culture, and lived experience.

Co-Production at Every Level

Support is never “done to” someone. We work in partnership with individuals, families, and professionals to design and review support together.

Growth Through Choice

We promote independence by encouraging informed decision-making, skill development, and personal goal setting.

Safety with Autonomy

We balance safeguarding with empowerment  supporting positive risk-taking while maintaining safe and structured environments.

Belonging without Barrier

We champion inclusion, helping individuals build meaningful connections within their communities without discrimination or stigma.

"Where comfort meets compassion"

OUR APPROACH

Care Rooted in PBS and Real Relationships

What is Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)?
PBS is not a set of rules. It’s a philosophy grounded in compassion. It asks: What unmet need is this behavior communicating? Then it answers with dignity, patience, and proactive support.

Our PBS Framework:

Functional behavior assessments

Individual PBS plans co-designed with the person

Daily tracking and reflection

Staff debriefing after incidents

Celebrations of progress, not punishment of regress

Empathy Over Control. Prevention Over Reaction. Choice Over Compliance.

Training & Expertise:

100% staff trained in PMVA, PBS, and trauma-informed practice

In-house PBS coaches and peer mentoring

Regular family inclusion workshops
